Skincare in Motion: Discover the Power of Soho Skin’s Gua Sha and Face Oil

At Soho Skin, skincare isn’t about more—it’s about better. Designed for modern living, our routines are streamlined, sensory, and effective. Used together, our Gua Sha tool and Face Oil support skin health by enhancing radiance, relieving tension, and offering a considered moment of care.

But this is more than a beauty technique. Gua sha has deep roots in traditional Chinese medicine, where it has been practised for centuries to support circulation and overall wellbeing. Our approach honours this tradition while integrating it into a contemporary skincare system—respectfully adapted for everyday use.

Rooted in Tradition

Gua sha, meaning “to scrape” (gua) and “sha” referring to the redness or petechiae that may appear on the skin, is a traditional therapeutic technique rooted in Chinese medicine. Originally used on the body, it has long been employed across East and Southeast Asia to help release muscle tension, promote circulation, and support natural healing responses.

Facial gua sha builds on this legacy with refined, gentle pressure—using upward strokes that support lymphatic drainage, promote clarity, and bring balance to the skin, without disrupting its protective barrier. It’s a thoughtful technique that encourages both skin health and intentionality.

Why Pair Gua Sha with Soho Skin’s Face Oil?

Our Face Oil is designed to elevate facial massage. Lightweight yet potent, it combines:

  • Squalane – a skin-identical lipid to restore suppleness

  • Pomegranate & Raspberry Seed Oils – rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids to protect and nourish

  • Enzymatically Activated Oils – optimised for absorption and skin-firming benefits

This blend provides the ideal glide for gua sha massage, helping your tool move smoothly across the skin while maximising the performance of active ingredients.

How to Use Soho Skin’s Gua Sha and Face Oil

1. Prepare

Start with clean, dry skin using a gentle cleanser like our Cream Cleanser, following with a hydration-rich treatment like our Renewal Serum. Allow to fully absorb, then apply 3–5 drops of Face Oil (a bit more than you would normally use in your routine) and press it into your face, neck, and décolletage to create slip for your tool.

2. Massage

Hold the gua sha tool at an angle (15–30 degrees), ensuring that it is not perpendicular to the face. Using light to medium pressure, follow these movements:

  • Neck: Sweep upward from collarbone to jawline

  • Jawline: Glide from chin to ear

  • Cheeks: Move from the nose toward the temples

  • Under Eyes: Lightly glide from inner to outer corners

  • Forehead: Stroke from brows upward to the hairline

Repeat each movement 3–5 times per side. Keep strokes smooth, slow, and intentional.

3. Finish

Allow the remaining oil to absorb or follow with Face Cream, Overnight Cream or Hydrating Gel-Cream for enhanced nourishment. Rinse the tool with warm water and mild soap after each use.
